TCCF Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors set priorities for TeamConnor annually and oversees the execution of the plan to achieve the best results for building visibility for childhood cancer and raising funds for research.  These are dedicated professionals who believe they can make a difference in this battle to find a cure for childhood cancer by offering their talent and resources for the cause.

Amy K. Pass, MD
VP of Grants and Giving

Dr. Amy Pass is a pediatrician with Pediatric Specialists of Plano. She previously worked at Children's Medical Center in Dallas as a pediatric oncologist. Dr. Pass is the Medical Director of Lifesteps Pediatric Rehabilitation Center in Lewisville, TX and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. As a pediatric oncologist, Dr. Pass is committed to improving the outcome for children with cancer.
Carolyn Alvey
Vice President of Marketing

Carolyn Alvey is  Vice President of Public Relations for Aardvark Communications, Inc. With more than 20 years of experience in public relations, marketing and social media, Carolyn has been on TeamConnor's Board of Directors since the organization's inception.
Chris Vogeli
Proprietor, III Forks Steakhouse

Raised in Dallas, Chef Chris Vogeli left Texas after completing his culinary degree at El Centro College. He spent three years in Switzerland honing his skills with positions in Zurich, St. Moritz and Locarno. After returning to the U.S., Vogeli joined a team of chefs to compete internationally in a banqueting competition. Winning back-to-back international titles, Vogeli captained the team to a third consecutive title, a feat not accomplished by an American team in more than 40 years. Vogeli teamed with Dale F. Wamstad, founder and owner of Del Frisco Steakhouse, to open III Forks with a focus on steaks and seafood, evolving the Texas-French cuisine it is acclaimed for today.
Christie Warrick
President

Christie Warrick is the Chief Operating Officer for Northwestern Mutual - Dallas. Christie has helped with the creation of TeamConnor and leads the organization's efforts to be at the forefront of childhood cancer awareness.  As the aunt of Connor Cruse, Christie has made it her mission to fight for more awareness and funding of childhood cancer research.
Derrick Shelby
Treasurer

Derrick Shelby is the Director of Training and Educations Services at Timberhorn IT Solutions in Frisco, TX.  Shelby has more than 11 years experience in providing IT training and continuing education, including roles with many Fortune 500 companies. In addition, he also coaches an 8th grade boys basketball team at Prestonwood Christian Academy and the AAU Team, The Texas Titans.
Joy Cruse
VP of Community Affairs

Joy is a published author, professional speaker and loving mother to four bright and active children. The mother of Connor Cruse and founder of TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation, Joy inspires families across the globe to continue the fight to eradicate childhood cancer. Joy works diligently with doctors, families, donors, sponsors, partners and event organizers in a tireless effort to help fund and find a cure for childhood cancers.
Stuart Lloyd
VP of Review Board

Stuart Lloyd is a business owner and investor in the web-based software industry.  He previously owned and operated ClickMotive, an automotive industry software company that was acquired by DealerTrack in 2012.  Mr. Lloyd also owned and operated Third Coast Media, an internet marketing firm that was acquired by Reynolds & Reynolds in 2003.  As a software innovator, Mr. Lloyd enjoys starting and growing businesses in high-growth fields.

Today, 46 children will be diagnosed with cancer.  Seven will lose their battle.

Did you know September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

Every day in America, approximately 46 children are diagnosed with cancer.

Childhood cancer does not discriminate, sparing no ethnic group, socio-economic class, or geographic region.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in children, accounting for about 3% of childhood cancers.

On average, 1 in every 4 elementary schools has a child with cancer.

About one-third of childhood cancers are leukemias.

Childhood cancer survival rates in the United States have increased from less than 20% in the 1960s to almost 80% today.

Cancer kills more children each year than Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, and Pediatric AIDS combined.

Childhood cancer is not one disease entity, but rather a spectrum of different malignancies. Cancers found in children are biologically different from those seen in adults.

1 in 300 children will develop cancer before age 20.

Neuroblastoma is the most common extra cranial solid tumor cancer in children.

Today, up to 75% of the children with cancer can be cured, yet, some forms of childhood cancers have proven so resistant to treatment that, in spite of research, a cure is illusive.
